This is a tetchy thing, actually, because I love movies like Shrek, Toy Story, and Bug's Life... however, things like Final Fantasy and this new Polar Express movie (with Tom Hanks), I'm not really sure about.
It seems like we'd no longer need real actors to be in these movies, which some people would think is cool, but... I don't think so, because there's no emotion anymore, do you get what I mean?
Only a real human can display true human emotions. A computer generated image can't, no matter how good your abilities or software is...
The stuff like Shrek, Toy Story, Bug's Life or Finding Nemo is fine to me, because they're cartoons anyway. It's when they start trying to create humans to look like humans... that's when it starts to get weird...
This Polar Express is a good example. They have a CGI Tom Hanks in it, basically. Why not just use the man himself? Or is it cheaper to just use his voice?
I'd find the movie more magical if it was with real actors... maybe that's just me, I dunno...
Any other thoughts?

I totally agree with you...but what's this Polar Express thingy?? I haven't heard of it before But yeah...stuff like Shrek and Toy Story rock with all the CGI cos you're not gonna get a load of ogres or donkies to talk in real life (LOL ogres in real life... ) or get a cat to wear boots ;D And they are just cartoons so that's spiffy. I don't think CGI actors can take over from real actors either...can you imagine Harry Potter totally in CGI?! I know the Quidditch scenes and the aminals are CGI but you can tell they're not real. I mean, come on....CGI Lucius?! I don't think so! Like you said, computer graphics can't show emotions like a real person can. And another thing...as good as some of the CGI's are...I don't think I could drool over one like I can a real person ;D

If it's going to be an all human type of movie then it should be real life actors not CGI. But like if it's not real life I dunno i guess I should see some movies like that before judging it.

I just don't like the coldness of CGI humans. It's creepy that they look so real but they aren't, and the true emotion can't be seen.

Yea I understand your point. But still I'd like to see a movie like that first. I think the reason it's CGI is because it'll appeal to younger kids I guess.

Well yeah... and like I said, I don't mind it for things like Shrek, Toy Story, etc... it's just the human things that freak me out... I mean sure, it's amazing what people can create, but... to make a whole movie, of almost human like characters, but not use real humans... I don't get it.... and that Polar Express thing I mentioned - the Tom Hanks character looks like him - why not just use him himself? Or is his voice cheaper than his being, I dunno... LOL!

Ok I don't think I like human CGI (i watched the trailer y'day) and it does look freaky. they shoulda either done it with real humans or made it a cartoon.

I agree with you Claire. When I watch a movie, I want to see real emotions, not CGI humans...
